Engaging, joyful, uplifting and humorous
Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin…..
I was sitting very comfortably indeed. In the delectable K-Teas Cakes, and a chair that held me in a soothing hug. Unbeknown to me, I was already in the therapist’s chair of the infectious, animated and gifted storyteller, Tina Sederholm. Little did I know that the next 45 minutes would leave me contemplating life and ruminating on my version of it.
The show began with some light-hearted audience participation to help us remember what our big goals were when we were young. That unique time when life was simple, childlike and our dreams were within touching distance of our unsullied brains. Somewhere along the way, most of us lose those dreams when the realities and competition of adulthood kick in. We are no longer Indiana Jones or Marion Ravenwood (who was obviously the real star of the film, as she did everything Indie did, but in heels!) Our amazing, adventurous spirit seems to have been locked away in some long-forgotten vault that we can no longer access. What happened before the fantasy version of the life we bought into took over? Was there a way to discover it again?
Tina navigated us along a path of honest observations, using scenarios from her own life as examples. Scenarios that were easily relatable to her audience. What happens to that path when there is more of it behind us than ahead? Had we been on paths that ultimately led to dead ends? Did perfect paths actually exist? Had we been looking at the wrong map? Was there a map? Was there even a path? Were we so obsessed with the path that we forgot to look at the scenery along the way?
Gently and reflectively, we meandered back, via a show that was engaging, joyful, uplifting and humorous. We were left pondering our existence through different eyes. Was it therapy or not? Only time will tell.
